ACSM drops top fitness trends of 2025. These trends came from over 2,000 people ACSM polled with the top 3 responder types being Personal Trainers, Exercise Physiologists and Research Faculty/Professors. It comes at no surprise that the top 2 trends were wearable tech and mobile exercise apps...Strava anyone? Mobile apps rose from 7 to 2 and I'm guessing thats from the aforementioned Strava running app and AI calorie trackers.
HIIT also made the list at 6 and raised it's rank compared to last year. Surprisingly, Zone 2 training didn't make it considering it seems there's a new argument over it every week. Not surprisingly - hot and cold therapies made the list at 20.
I expect wearable tech to retain the top spot next year and would bet that bloodwork and supplementation made the list next year and biomarkers and longevity movements gain steam.
Rick Garard Talks the WFP. Most may know Ricky Garad as the 2022 CrossFits Fittest Man on Earth or have seen him in the documentary "The Redeemed and Dominant". I wont dive into his suspension after getting popped for PED's.
Currently, Ricky's competing in the inaugural season of the WFP or World Fitness Project where he currently sits in 7th. Ricky mentioned in the interview he enjoys the opportunity to compete more than once a year, opening the door to financial opportunity. The WFP is set to wrap up with it's 3rd event of the year in mid December, taking place in Copenhagen.
For those amateur athletes looking for a challenge I recommend checking out the WFP rec league.
Diet of 53 year old Bill Maeda. This one was a little surprising for a fitness influences who's still crushing it in his mid 50's. He shared his diet and (would you believe it) said he struggles while on a low-carb diet. Mainly due to his fast metabolism.
These diets really aren't the panaceas they're made out to be by the online fitness community with a supplement to sell you. Speaking of supplements, Bill mentioned he only uses a multi, vitamin D and NAD. Seems to me that NAD is getting more popular with athletes who want to tinker with increased energy production.
My main takeaway here - if you're training like an athlete or competing like one, you could probably benefit from a mid to high carb diet.

Like we mentioned above, biomarkers are our prediction to make the fitness top 20 trend list next year. Maybe we should replace biomarkers with "biomarker madness"? Time will tell!
